Once celebrated under the name Psilocybe natalensis, this remarkable species from southern Africa has recently been reclassified as Psilocybe ochraceocentrata, a close evolutionary relative of P. cubensis. The name translates to “ochre center,” referencing the distinctive golden-brown tone radiating from the middle of its cap.
