Penis Envy Uncut – PEU

Observational Data

Cap Formation: Thick, spongy, marshmallow-like caps with occasional greenish hues. Cap edges often remain rounded and heavy rather than flattening.

Gill Formation: Severely reduced gills, often incomplete or malformed, which limits spore production.
Spore Profile: Nearly sterile. When present, spores are albino and measure approximately 7 × 12 µm.
Fruiting Characteristics: Robust but irregular bodies; morphology is unstable compared to standard cubensis. Displays a quick EOL (End of Life Cycle), means fruits mature and decompose very quickly.

Coloration: Predominantly white with green overtones. Unlike other albinos, some fruits may carry slight pigment bleed.
Genetic Traits: Derived from Albino Penis Envy and standard Penis Envy hybrids. Displays extreme sterility, making preservation dependent on cloning and cycling.
Growth Notes: Culture requires continuous management due to sterility. Displays unique morphology with reduced ability to propagate naturally through spores.

History & Preservation of PEU

Penis Envy Uncut (PEU) is one of the most enigmatic Psilocybe cubensis strains ever documented. Originally introduced before 2015 by the mycologist known as Workman, PEU displayed an unusual morphology that set it apart from all other Penis Envy derivatives. Thick, marshmallow-like fruiting bodies, striking coloration that at times carried subtle green hues, and most notably, a near absence of spore production. Its reduced gill formation and sterility earned it the name “Uncut,” referencing its link to the Penis Envy family while underscoring its unusual traits.

Over time, this rare expression was nearly lost. Later grows circulated in the community began reverting to more standard cubensis features, including larger gills and diminished albino influence. The true “Uncut” phenotype seemed destined to fade into obscurity.

Through careful stewardship, however, the authentic cut was preserved and kept alive. Cycling the sterile culture for over five years, its vigor was restored and maintained, ensuring the original phenotype was not lost to history. Today, the preservation of Penis Envy Uncut allows mycologists and collectors to study one of the most unique and conversation-worthy cubensis varieties in existence.
